What To Do
At Fort Southwest Point
Explore the only federal era fort in Tennessee being reconstructed on
its original foundation. An ongoing project: a barracks, a blockhouse,
and over 250 feet of palisade walls have been reconstructed to date.
Enjoy the spectacular views from the reconstructed fort, situated on a
high bluff, rising above the Clinch and the Tennessee Rivers.
At the Visitor Center learn more about the fort’s vital role in the
westward
expansion of America. View our orientation video and interpretive
exhibits. Visit with our knowledgeable and friendly staff. Picnic on
the 30-acre
site on Watt’s Bar Lake. At special events see history come to life
with
period dressed history interpreters.
Fort Southwest Point is owned and operated by the City of Kingston. It
is governed by the Fort Southwest Point Committee. We are handicapped
accessible.
